NSC: controls a freight railroad, Norfolk Southern Railway Company. Norfolk Southern Railway Company is primarily engaged in the rail transportation of raw materials, intermediate products and finished goods primarily in the southeast, east and Midwest and, via interchange with rail carriers, to and from the rest of the United States. Norfolk Southern also transports overseas freight through several Atlantic and Gulf Coast ports. The Company provides logistics services and offers an intermodal network in the eastern half of the United States.
PRPX: manufactures, supplies and distributes a range of rail products, including rail joints, rail anchors, rail spikes, railway friction management products and systems, railway wayside data collection and data management systems, and freight car securement systems. The Company also manufactures material handling equipment for industries outside the rail transportation sector at its Leicester, England operation. It serves both the domestic and international markets. CSX: a transportation company. The Company operates in two segments: rail and intermodal. The Company's rail and intermodal businesses provide rail-based transportation services, including traditional rail service and the transport of intermodal containers and trailers. CSX's principal operating company, CSX Transportation, Inc. (CSXT), provides a link to the transportation supply chain through its approximately 21,000 route mile rail network, which serves centers in 23 states east of the Mississippi River, the District of Columbia, and the Canadian provinces of Ontario and Quebec. |
